Away with the fairies

Tuesday, 30 July 2013

Its a rare occasion that I hop out from behind the camera and actually be in the pictures, today is one of those days. My monthly visitor is here. That means we arent pregnant, not that I expected to be,we decided we'd start trying after id ovulated but for some reason I still greeted it with a "damn you!". I was secretly hoping the baby fairy would just plant one in there but its not that simple is it? Long gone are the days when i prayed for my period, who'd of thought it!

We headed out to see if we could find some of those fairies anyway. Sadly all we found was leaves and sticks but it was a lovely family day none the less ;)

Rio loves exploring, he found a puddle for the first time yesterday and had a little splash..his mouth making that little O with newfound excitment. I cant wait for autumn to come so i can put on his wellies and go nature walking. I never thought id be looking forward to lifting up rocks to look for bugs! Im more of a crunching through leaves and making pictures with them type of girl. But along with watching football, i guess its all part of being the mummy to a boy!

Kudos for noticing there wasnt a ball in these pictures! ;)

Sundays child..

Today we had our first bbq of the year, and in true English fashion..it rained!

I did however manage to take some pictures before the heavens opened and the thunder started. Craig's peering over my shoulder asking "did you not photograph the barbeque and food?", why would I want to waste camera battery on that when this little beauties running round? Men ;)

Today was the first day of my week off. Yes i work sundays, it sucks, but not as much as you'd think.

Superman saturday

Saturday, 27 July 2013

superman, next

Every year one of our parks holds a summer fair. Along with the raffles & rides my neice was also dancing so we all walked down for the day and despite the weather forecast for an afternoon rain, the sun stayed out for us all to enjoy!

This was her first performance and although she lost concentration at times, she was adorable to watch! Its always a rare and great opportunity for my parents to have all four grandchildren together so we attempted a picture. Rio was not impressed to be kept away from playing football longer than 0.5 seconds..i however think its a quirky cute photo!

Rio finally got to wear the superman top mentioned here

Today was my last day at work for a week. I love booking the same time off as Craig and having a full week of family days out. Rio spent the evening running under the sprinkler & putting Noddy on the back of his tractor trailer before making it set off with him. The days when Noddy loved his little wind up car are long gone apparently ;)

To try or not to try?

Theres no denying that finding out I was pregnant with Rio was a suprise, a nice suprise, but a suprise all the least. I was on the pill and were it not for a sickness bug a baby wouldnt of come into the equation for a long while. Sometimes you dont know what you want until you've already got it.

It was always clear for both of us, as soon as we decided there'd be another, that we wanted a little age gap. For a while we back and forthed about when, id be ready, then Craig would and so on and so forth. Times flown. Suddenly the ideal gap we both wanted is upon us and for the first time, we're both ready.

But this time round its different. What if i dont get caught on straight away like last time. Could i handle the repeated heartache of sitting in excitement and anticipation only to get a negative result? I know whats to come with things like labour. Last time was pretty much a walk in the park as far as labour is concerned. I've created such a high expectation for myself, if i did it once without pain relief i should be able to do it again. Only its not like that is it? Every labour is different. You do what you have to do to have your little one in your arms.

I've already had a three/four month gap from birth control so far, not for this reason but now there really is nothing stopping us.

To try or not to try?

Rio by name, Rio by nature?

Monday, 22 July 2013

If you've ever popped by my blog before you will know that little Rio is ball obsessed. Its what made him take his first steps, say his first words, and what 70% of his day consists of. Therefore you will have noticed we never pass up the opportunity to take a ball out with us for the day & to make the most of the nice weather before the much needed rain and thunderstorms, we packed it under the pushchair and headed for the park.

The picture above is what we were greeted with. Everytime i tried to slide it out of his hands he woke up, grabbed it tighter to his chest and nodded back off again in contented sleep. Me & Craig took this as an opportunity to chat and relax on a bench infront of the pond watching the little ducklings..before it was time to jump in the car and go do the dreaded Asda shop that is!!

Im linking up with PODcast's whats the story?:

Rio, an update!

Thursday, 18 July 2013

Its been far too long since i did one of these posts so i thought id pop a little update on.

- Rio now has two double teeth, one at either side on the bottom.
- He loves brushing his teeth, and will point to his brush and mime brushing everytime we go in the bathroom.
- His eyes are changing colour. Blue on the outside, green in the middle, hazel on the inside..gorgeous!
- He will repeat words when you ask him to and is learning his animal noises.
- His natural ability with a football is astounding, Craig plays and coaches so hes definitely passed that one down.
- He understands and reacts to everything you say. And lets you know if youve understood him wrong.
- Hes so cheeky! I was testing new running trainers and as the salesman crouched down to help, Rio perched himself on his knee! I was in shock, more so when he took a liking to his fringe and gave it a little tug. Absolute terror!
- His favourite drink is strawberry milkshake
- He's putting together words and will say things like "I want a boc, I want that ball, I wanna go outside"
- He'll run off mid nappy change and sulk "no bum", meaning he doesnt want his nappy back on. Priceless!

Free fun in the sun: at the park

Im a big believer in the best days out /activities are the free/cheap ones. So instead of splashing the cash this summer, why not splash in the sea or the pool in the garden instead? Whether its a trip to the local beach or park, your sure to have fun creating and capturing memories!!

Theres something cheesey going on here ;)

We have a sock thief. At first i thought it was the dog, but she just takes them to bed with her. But now im convinced its the washer. "Mr washer is that why you make a weird noise? Have you ate too many baby socks your tummys gurgeling?". Or maybe its like the book 'a place called here', and theirs a place where they all end up with the rest of lost property and people? Either way we have a thief because surely i cant of misplaced 30+ socks?!! I took advantage of the Next sale and bought these socks to eventually join them. If found please return ;)
I also bought bags full of clothes, so now instead of owning half of the little boy section, i own all of it! If you've come in contact with the sock theif do not fear, you now have lots of mini sock puppets!

A letter to my 15 year old self..

Tuesday, 9 July 2013

Dear Victoria,

Yes i just used your sunday name, no your not in trouble, turns out in the future you actually prefer it. Crazy right? Theres alot more crazies but first and foremost..stop killing your hair with bleach women, in a few years you will have to go from this..

to this! & guess what.. you'll love it! You'll then enbark on a neverending cycle of growing it out and cutting it off again and this wont stop until you realise you'll need it long for your wedding. Oh poopy..rewind!!

Okay, so that guy your dating? forget him..pretty soon your going to meet the type of guy that everyone dreams about, for a while you ignore him but after that the rest is history. About six years from now you will actually have his baby, even after swearing you will never get pregnant after being Zoe's birthing partner, oh yeah she has a baby too..congratulations your an auntie, multiple times!!

Together the two of them have changed your life, your two misters - without a doubt your everything! Oooh yeah, its a boy..but you know that from about 14 weeks anyway, you were always a little freaky like that. A month after giving birth you will get engaged but i wont give you the details and ruin it for you :)

Dont worry about your shyness, being a mum reinvents you! You finally find a job that you enjoy, its not everyones idea of doing great but who cares? No its not going to horse college but you do get back in the saddle. Your saving for a mortgage & a wedding...you have a dog!! Yes you, miss "i'll walk 15 mins in the opposite direction just to avoid a scary stray" ..ohh and your a stone and half heavier than pre pregnancy..calm the heck down!! I know it seems scary right now, but you will look back and realise you needed to.

Lifes just beginning..for both of us (or whatever, you get what i mean) x

Oh i do like to be beside the seaside??

Sunday, 7 July 2013

Ive just read a post on preparing yourself for the beach with a toddler,(See here) this couldnt of come at a more fitting time as yesterday we did take Rio on the beach..for the first time! We pretty much followed the instructions down to a tee but what if your toddler decides they dont actually like the beach? What if they hate walking on the sand and cling to you like a little monkey when you paddle in the sea? Ohhh just Rio then ;)

Despite all that i did manage to get a few snaps..not the perfect paddling sandcastle building snaps id previously imagined but thats the beauty of mummyhood. Theres also a few of Annalise, once upon a time she was the same.

Please note: our nearest beach is actually wet sand with puddles for most of the day, the sea is miles out until about 3-4pm. Those telescopes on the front? Yeah im pretty sure their there so you actually get a glimpse ;)

A treat for mummy

Thursday, 4 July 2013

Its no secret that i've always been a girly girl, but now that im a food covered messy haired mummy make up has taken abit of a backseat and its abit of a treat to actually sit and spend time on my makeup instead of chucking abit of bronzer and mascara on. A while ago i discovered two people i know are also bloggers..crazy right? heres me naively thinking im a loner. One of which has a fashion blog, through that i found her little handmade shop and came across a brush roll i fell in love with. I had to have one made, and instead of stopping there i pushed the beauty boat out and asked if she'd be able to make me a matching makeup bag..and well the rest is history!!

I think the pictures speak for themselves are far as her talent and creativity goes!! Mummys to little girls id recommend checking out the little dress and the cushions!!

Clumber park, and yet another picture of Rio playing football.

Wednesday, 3 July 2013

Seems as though me and Craig have the same week off together we're trying to make the most of it and have as many family days out as the weather allows. Clumber park is an old favourite of ours, and little Rio likes anything that has enough grass to kick a ball about so we're all happy chappys really.

..we'd be even happier chappies if we'd booked that last minute holiday like we'd planned but oh well, least the current bun is making an appearance. Hey maybe it will stay out long enough to take Rio on the beach for the first time at the weekend? Bucket and spade at the ready courtesy of nanna the easter bunny.

What a terror!!  In sports direct the other day they had balls right near the ceiling and it took him 0.2 seconds to locate them. He has some kind of sixth sense for balls/balloons. It took me about ten minutes of handing him rugby balls, basketballs etc before he got mad and pointed to the ceiling and growled "FOOTBALL", that i realised. Silly useless mummy!! ;)
