Its raining its pouring, the little babies snoring

Its basically torrential rain outside, and Rio is having the nap of all naps so what better way to pass the time than upload a few pikkies? The poor mite projectiled everywhere everytime he coughed last night trying to get the phlem up. Seems alot better now, he's just sleeping it off so hopefully it has done the trick. I'd be lying if i said i wasnt knakard, even though it was Craigs night to do the feeds. Though we havent actually done 'feeds' for a long time. I ended up putting Rio in our room and watching him like a hawk while he slept. So yeah.. ready for beddy bies tonight. And Craig has just informed me his work (for once) isnt opening for bank holiday on monday..happy days.

So where was I? Oh yeah..pikkies!!

Sick in his eyes

Yep, you read the title right.. last night i heard Rio coughing on the baby monitor so i went into his room to check he was okay. Just in time to see him cough once more and projectile vomit..in his eyes!!

Okay when i saw him i had a little eek moment. Me and Craig were both like "how the hell do you get sick out of eyes?" i mean.. have you seen that one in the baby book anywhere? nope, neither have I. Instinct just kicked in and i wet a burp cloth with some luke warm water and rinsed them out the same as i would if i got shampoo in mine. Im new to this crazyness.

All cleaned up i put him down and he started whining a little..he never whines..so i picked him up and he instantly snuggled into me. Turned and did the biggest cheesey grin at Craig, then snuggled back again. Cheeky little sausage. Craig said "he's not silly is he". To which i put him back down and he fell back to sleep til 7 this morning without another murmer. Bliss.

Mr Rio has his second cold. Last time it was just a little 2 day thing. This time he's all snuffly and snotty and wakes up in the night coughing and forgetting that he can actually breathe through his mouth too. Feel so sorry for him because obviously he doesnt know how to blow his nose yet. Last night was the first night in months ive had to do night feeds. Ooh i havent missed them at all.

Then when his nose had finally cleared abit and he'd settled i was awoken by the sound of him filling his nappy through the baby monitor..lovely! Me and the OH just looked at each other and giggled abit before i dived under the covers and announced i was "asleep" ;) worked a treat. Naughty mummy.

Splish splash does your baby like the bath?

Some babies like the bath. Some babies hate the bath. With Rio you never know which your going to get.. he changes his mind constantly. Sometimes he's so content your convinced he could lay there for hours and turn into a little prune. Others, well your washing him at the speed of light..shouting at your other half to "just fetch me a towel".

Today was a good day. Quickly snapped these pictures before he'd pulled the towel off and turned it into a toy. Thats another of his little things.. he loves playing with his bib, sleepsuit etc. Craig put the washing next to him the other day and he was on it like sonic. He doesnt have a dummy but ive got a little gut instinct that he may want to trail a comfort blanket around with him later in life. Hmmm!!

Don't get me wrong, minus the baths he is the most content baby in the world..never cries or gets grumpy..we're pretty lucky and people comment on it all the time.

Memories

The sun has disappeared today, suprise suprise. Rio is having a MEGA nap,so i thought id kill the time by reading back through my blog..ive been meaning to for a while now. All i can say is im sat here smiling..im so glad i decided to start blogging!! Complaining of heartburn, losing my plug. saying it will be weeks then bam! The next post is my birth story.

Still in the mood to reminisce (yes i may of googled that spelling) i got Rio's keepsake box out of the nursery and had a look through.

Oohh its a glamorous life

So.. Rio has been sleeping through since when? 2 months was it? Content baba. At first it was 9-4.30 but for the last few weeks it has turned into 9-7 or later. Slap my wrists if you want, as its recommended that you put them in their own room at 6 months.. but i disturb him to go to the loo in the night. GLAMOROUS! So i thought ive got these fansy spansy under the mattress monitors etc why not give it a try? (though secretly i was thinking, how will i sleep without my baby,haha)

I took down the cot, and put it up.. again! Remember the last time when i put it up in the nursery because i wanted it to look pretty only to realise that it would need to be next to my bed for some months once he'd outgrew the moses basket? So anyways.. cot up, monitors ready, baby ready.

I head to my room, can hear Rio self settling off, doing his sleepy nodding off murmer..then silence. At first i thought, wowzers that was fast little man.. then i realise..nope theyve bloody stopped. So i pressed a random button and they started again..then they stopped. I messed around for a while and they kept doing the same. At this point Rio was asleep (id walked down the hall to check on him) and feeling poorly i wanted to do the same. Fansy spansy monitors my ass! I ended up sleeping on the nursery floor all night. Helloooo mr backache!

..Oh and ive spent the last 3 hours in the bathroom with a bug and a migraine with Rio in his swing (yes i dragged that blinking thing in there with me too) because the OH is away on a delivery and wont be home til half 5. Once again..the GLAMOROUS life of a mummy.

Who am i kidding? I wouldnt change it for the world!

Craig changed the carseat from our silvercross ventura one to the britax birth to four years one, and shouted me to come see Rio test it out. This is what i was greeted with. I think he likes it. Cheeky little devil ;)

Injections

Took the little man for his injections the other day. The women looked at him and announced "its three today Rio". I was in shock, someone could of prewarned me.

Apparently its something to do with them not giving them the sugarlump or drops on the tongue anymore?  First one was fine, second one was okay just little cry.. third one he pretty much screamed "why isnt this over yet? am i a pin cushion lady".  It is heartbreaking, but sooo worth it in the long run. I always hear people say "nasty nurse", or "i could of slapped her for making them cry".  But its got to be done. Simples. I may of cooed Rio a few times to stop his tears by saying the first though. Hehe ;)

So..i took him out of the room and gave him his bottle and he was babbling away and smiling to
the people in the waiting room in no time.  He seems fine now too. Abit warm but i blame the english weather.. not that im complaining. Mr england needs to invest in some more sunshine! No more til he is around a year old too. That sounds a long way off, but he is 4 months old tomorrow so i know for a fact that it will flyyy by.

He's loving his porridge, and sleeping through longer than ever. He now has a 'favourite toy'. And is just generally LOVELY!!

Note to self: Dont wear white on injection days, you will get covered in blood and look like you've got your period.. cringe!

Where has the time gone (8)

Blergh, tomorrow is Craigs last day off work. I've had such s great family week it kind of makes me wish that he was one of them bums that just sit on the dole not even wanting a job..well not really but you know what i mean. Okayyy so it makes me wish we won the lottery and could have family outtings everyday!1 << thats better :D

Rio is 4 months old on the tenth..wowzers!! It wont be long before im back at work and planning his first birthday at this rate. Sad thought.

Nothing makes me happier than his giggles. He really is Mr Happy.

He had his first taste of baby porridge the other day. I dont want any omg weaning is 6 months now comments. This is from 4 months and in the book it says if he drools alot, bites his hands alot and directs things to his mouth then he is ready. That along with showing a huge interest in when we have our tea. At first he did the natural instinct thing and his tongue pushed it out.. but he was soon screaming for more spoonfuls and chomping his lips getting the last of it up. Not gave him any since but will introduce is after the weaning lady comes out to us on thursday and double okays it.

White post farm

That video makes me chuckle, kids come out with some stuff sometimes. So..today me and Craig took Rio to White post farm..but as he's not old enough to quite understand we invited Annalise along too. Last time we took Ryan with us and its fair to say Annalise liked it just as much. It has everything from Snakes to giant pigs so abit of something for everyone. Annalise liked pretty much everything apart from when she got to hold a gecko..haha..she didnt like that at all. The spiders gave me the heeby jeebies. Even thinking about it and typing away now im cringing and squirming. Mine and Annalises favourites are the pigmy goats. Im very tempted to buy some and put them along side the horses ;) infact..im very tempted to buy a few of everything and hire a farmer -_-

Not got any pictures of Mr Rio, he was just sleeping away in the pushchair..pssh animals smanimals. None of me or Craig either..we pretty much went all dossed up in the hunter wellies and urm..the battery died?

 Forget being a 'cat lady' annalise prefers the ducks..i told her she couldnt stroke these like the rest of the animals because they peck. So what did she do? pull he sleeves over her hands and stroked away.
