Ooo i do like a bargain, even a strange one!

Wednesday, 29 February 2012

My mattress protector came in the post today. I have to admit when i ordered it i felt abit like an incontenent granny.. no offence to them of course.. i totally get how they feel.

You never know if your waters are going to go on there own, or where, and i mainly hear/read people saying theirs went in bed. So i wasnt taking any chances!! I loaded up good old trusty ebay and found the cheapest one i could.. i mean it doesnt have to be anything special does it? Guess how much?? £1.94 including postage and package. Ooooh i love a bargain.. even a strange one. So yeah.. quickly added it to my basket and paid for it. Then a thought occured "what if they think i just wet the bed and it hasnt crossed their mind that i may be a pregnant lady just ordering in the hope of saving her comfy bed?" << hehehee. Nevermindd.

My lifesavers!

Tuesday, 28 February 2012

One of the many hidden joys in pregnancy is acid. One word - ouch! I went through a phase of trying everything.. milk, gaviscon, rennies etc.. but none of these seemed to work for me. On a night id lay in bed and have to sleep virtually sat up. It got to the point where i was getting it everyday and enough was enough!! I looked online on all the pregnancy websites etc and they all said the same.. id nearly gave up when i saw a comment a lady had left saying refreshers really helped. Well.. by now i was willing to try anything and went on the hunt for them. (Little village shops are the best place to grab hold but the poundshop, bnm etc also stock them in multipack).  After eating three i had instant relief. Apparently they work the same as tumms, i was going to compare but tumms are about £5 a tub in the chemist and these are like 30p a pack? So i didnt bother.. they looked exactly the same though. Tumms also limit the amount you can have a day.. but with refreshers you can just munch away when needed. I've told a few other pregnant girls about these and theyve come back thanking me!! So the next time your acidy.. give them a go :) they just might become your lifesaver too.

TMI?

I had a little spend today, on me and not the baby :O how dare I haha..
The hair dressers was closed (thats another story) so i spent that money on other ways to pamper myself.

Well..on the way home i thought "ooo i suddenly need a wee", and the next thing you know.. i can barely walk. I am NOT exaggerating!! Had to shuffle all the way home in fear of peeing myself.
You get enough looks walking like a duck, but walking like a duck about to lay an egg.. wellllllll

Week 33

Saturday, 25 February 2012

Ive mentioned before, in my birth plan post i think it was, that i get weekly updates to my phone from various websites telling me whats happening with my body etc. Well.. ive decided at the end of each week im going to blog whats really been happening. So we can compare. Everyone is different.. but lets see how different.

Week 33 said:

Babycenter.com says: "As your baby fills out even more of your belly, lots of things might start to change: Whereas before you were sashaying, you may find yourself waddling. Finding an easy position to sit in — let alone sleep — is becoming more of a challenge. And bumping into chairs and counters is par for the course".

I actually mainly agree with this one to be honest, it seems pretty accurate.  I am waddling more, i start off okay but by the end of my 'journey' you can pretty much call me a duck and be done with it. Sleep is now horrific, to the point where i dont look forward to going to bed, which i should because im exhausted. My hips ache from the pressure of sleeping on my sides, and my back is starting to join in too.. im thinking its my pelvis relaxing maybe? for the baby to move down. & yes i have my days where im a total clutz. I bang into things and spill them etc.. to the point where my dad has said "i think id just give up and sit down if i was you".

Bounty.com says:  "You may find the baby’s movements more uncomfortable and may be slowing down as you cope with the extra weight".

Again i agree, eeek whats happening i dont normally!! His movements take my breathe away at times, its like he's trying to climb out my tummy, i cant imagine how it is going to feel as he gets even more weight behind him. Him being back to back cant help either, these movements are aimed right at my front, and his bum movements etc are on my ribs, ouchy.

Okay, wont they dont say then is.. your skin may start looking horrible again. I really dont want to be piling on the makeup to cover spots, but at the moment im having to. Increased appetite - i guess this is why your meant to gain a pound in weight a week now? im always in the mood to eat something..the other night we got a curry package thing from tesco, and afterwards the OH was stuffed!!! Yet i needed something yummy, so i DEMANDED he take me for some chocolate in the four minutes before emmerdale started. Haha.. i may of even used the 'im pregnant you cant say no' thing like a brat *blushes*.. ooo did i mention he put back my pot noodles in the supermarket the other day, he said "7 more weeks babe, then you can eat whatever crap you want" ..should of seen the look on his face when he asked where the "haribo fizzies" had come from at checkout.. sneaky sneaky ;)

My baby splurge item - graco sweetpeace soother!

Wednesday, 22 February 2012

When it comes to buying the for baby, i like to think ive been 'pretty' reasonable. I've bought the essentials.. okay so i may of gone overboard on the number of newborn sleepsuits etc i got but at the price i found them at, you cant really grumble.. so that doesnt count.

I got my silver cross pram & matching car seat, steriliser, baby monitors, cot etc all at a time when they were on offer in babies r us. So when the Graco sweetpeace soother got reduced a little (£20 off at £149.99).. i just couldnt stop myself. I mean... have you seen this thing in person?? its amazing!! Every time i went into babies r us i was drawn to it.. i couldnt really justify spending that much money on it though.. when other cheaper products do virtually the same.. ish! But i gave in to temptation and treated myself.. i mean, treated the baby ;)

Above is where ive got it all set up waiting for little rio, and my nephew jacob testing it out.. it got his seal of approval!! Word of warning though, higher speed settings after a feed is a no no.. (blame the sister testing out the settings not me)

Ooo just noticed its still at that price on the website, but if you want the new colour (i think its new) its £169.99??

"This Sweetpeace Newborn Soother closely mimics parents soothing motion, and will peacefully fufil your baby's needs. The multi dimentionnal soothing motions are inspired by parents ..."

Pretty snazzy idea!!

"Frame is also compatible with Graco Autobaby car seats"

Not that i have one of those but still.. bonus!

It connects to the mains, so you dont have to worry about the batteries running out. And it has a gazillion different functions. You can even plug your mp3 in and play your babies own taste in music ;) haha.

Basically this is my splurge item. And to be honest its my first baby so im allowed one.

I love it!

Im ready for a season change!

Easter eggs are in the supermarkets now, and though most people are complaining that its 'too early' and "ooo its nearly easter already, we've only just had christmas".. im loving it! Easter is when my baby is due, my very own easter bunny!

I give full credit to whoever created this amazing picture. I wish it was me, but it wasnt!
The snowdrops are peeping up in my front garden now though..spring is finally on its way, and personally i think it cannot come quick enough .After the snow everything seems so muddy and bland! It doesnt help me feel very energetic! Yet i put on my bright pink hunters every morning and walk this little terror :) and things seems to pick up.. for few hours, then im exhausted on the sofa, motivation gone again!!

I love easter, blogs are always full of little chicks and bunnies.. rice crispy buns and decorated eggs :)
I can remember my primary school leaving a trail of raisins as 'poop' and telling us that the bunny has been!! My sister leaves paper footprints for her kids to find on their egg hunt at home but i dont think thats nearly as creative haha!

' Have you written your birth plan? '

Monday, 20 February 2012

Ever since i found out exactly how far i was on my first scan, ive had weekly emails to my phone come from various websites such as; hipp, cow and gate etc. Bacially underlining mine and the babies progress that week. What i should be eating, feeling.. how big he is etc. It normally varies site to site (im guessing they dont all follow the same guidelines to the letter) but this week.. they have all said 'have you written your birth plan?'.

In all honesty? I havent. We dont live in the dark ages, i like to think im pretty clued up about labour and childbirth.. i mean, i WAS my sisters birth partner. So yeah, you can attend all these fancy classes.. you can write down what you want and how you want it inch for inch. But i prefer to be abit ignorant about it. In my opinion, you accept whatever pain relief that you personally need to get you through it, its not a competition! No birth is the same. You never know how you will cope, whether your pain threshhold be high or low. Sure, we'd all like to cope fine, have that amazing natural birth.. but its not always possible.

But... as im considered a low risk pregnancy, i would really like to try waterbirth if one of the birthing pools are available on the day, and given that i dont have to have a bedbound induction obviously. I would also like to go home asap providing me and the baby are both okay and im feeling upto it.

Cutting the cord will be spur of the moment thing, i keep telling Craig that they can do it.. but he says we'll see! Erghh.. & whether he will be at the top of the bottom of the bed , is again spur of the moment, though after watching some birthing videos with me he has stated he will probs stay at the top.. hehe! (though having seen it myself its the weirdest yet amazing experience ever)

I say now i dont want gas and air or anything that will make me feel out of it, but tbh that rules pretty much everything out so we will see haha! Knowing my luck i will be begging for them to give me everything, epidural the lot!

Bump Bump Bumpity Bump

Sunday, 19 February 2012

Why didnt i take regular bump pictures? I guess its because i didnt really feel like i was getting any bigger.. yeah, now after a long day i feel the strain of the bump...but generally, i just feel normal.

This is my 32 week bump

I always think the front shots look strange, like ive got a football in there not a baby. *hehe*

And from the other side.

Ive got to the stage where clothing is limited. Im very petite so i find it really hard to find things to fit, even in maternity ranges. Ive gone out and bought a few pairs of leggings to tie me over and some long tops but im getting pretty fed up of wearing the same things. Ive always loved my clothes so wearing the same stuff over and over again makes me feel abit drab. Oh well.. he's so worth it :) For him to grow i have to is how i see it. Primark has been my life saver tbh..clothes you can afford to just give to charity once your done with them.. want a confession?? ive taken to wearing bright pink lipstick to glam myself up abit.. oh my!! *blush*

A long introduction

As far as first posts go, i dont really know what 'the norm' is to put.. so im going to wing it :) & hopefully some of what i put will be relevant.

Blogging has always been something that ive wanted to do. Im pretty useless at keeping a diary, there abit bland arent they? I'll be honest, ive started one before.. but i was writing and photographing what other blogs had, what their audience wanted to see, and i wasnt doing it for myself. So yeah, you guessed it.. i kinda got bored and it fizzled slowly out till i deleted the whole thing.. i didnt even bother to download it as backup.. that tells you something!!

So this time round ive decided to blog about what i want to.. and for the first time in my life ive found my self itching to get going. Im expecting my first baby you see. What better way than to document all the little things in one place? Okay some things may be off topic.. i tend to rant occasionally but hopefully it will work out.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Im Victoria. Ive been with my other half Craig nearly five years now & we're expecting our first baby. Its a boy. I would of loved a suprise but 'im too impatient', Craigs words not mine. Im currently 32 weeks so most of it has gone by undocumented i'll admit...its never to late to start though.

Its been pretty smooth sailing so far as im a low risk pregnancy. Yeah ive had hyperemesis, hand food and mouth, water infections, kidney infections, my bloods now developed an antibody, and the little terror is currently back to back but still :) ive had it pretty easy id say.

This is us....
