A brave boy!

In true boy toddler style, Rio has had bumps and bangs a-plenty before. The older he gets the more bruises seem to appear on his legs from climbing, playing football and generally running too fast in the street no matter how much I shout in protest!

But the other night was different. Id just had a bubble bath while my OH and Rio were waiting for the football to start..yawn..and was laid on the bed applying bio oil. When Rio suddenly ran around the bed and bang! Slid head first into the radiator.

It took his breath as usual, but within a few seconds the crying had started and my OH, whose a lot faster than my pregnant self, was on hand comforting and rubbing the back of his head..but as Rio calmed and looked up it was then he realised it was the front. Half of his little face was beginning to be covered in blood coming from somewhere on his scalp. Panic kicked in, the OH ran him to the sink for cotton wool and water while I shouted something about getting ready for the car..heck have you seen Emmerdale recently? I wasn't taking any chances..we were going to the hospital!

I got dressed in lightening speed, mainly due to the fact I skipped underwear, which I later regretted!

Once at the hospital Rio perked up, dragged a million chairs over to us and generally just made a lot of noise and a lot of people smile.

We didn't have to wait long to be seen and the check began..basically ending in him having his head glued!

He's fine now but aware that his head's been poorly..he keeps saying "orite now mummy? Gone now?..all better?". The next day I did ring in to cancel my shift at work which was a first for me, and I did feel really quilty but poorly cuddles are a job for Mummy!!

Mothers day

I write this post full of cold, unable to take anything to make me better because baby number two is growing in my stomach. Its crazy to believe that this time next year, heck this time in a few months, I will be the mother to two children..two little boys. That this time in a few weeks Rio will be two himself.

For Mothers day id asked for Lush things. Having a long hot soak before becoming a parent is underrated. I like to make the most of mine. But when Rio greeted me with "Happy Mothers Day Mummy".. that was all I needed! Which is a pretty good job, considering he refused to give me my card. Drawing on it is much more fun!.. He later passed me the envelope with a "Happy Birthday" before I had to head of to work. No rest for the wicked.

25 weeks pregnant

I made a little video instead of just listing all my symptoms this week as I felt like it was making me sound a bit negative.  Anyone just interested in seeing the bump progress can skip to 6:50 to save you from enduring my whiny girly Yorkshire voice!

A sunny day at Sundown

Flicking through my parents old photo's of us as a child, we often come across ones of my sisters at Sundown Adventure Land..or Pet's Corner as it was then. I don't think I was even born but for as long as I can remember its been on the list of 'places to take Rio'. Today the sun was out so that is exactly what we did..

 It was a very different day out, the story board village was my personal favourite but..

as you can see.. Rio was far from amused!! He hated that everything including the farm, was all pretend. He hated the loud noises and sing song activation. And most of all.. he hated getting wet on the water ride! Naughty daddy!!

I think its fair to say Rio is more of a nature/wildlife exploring kind of child..I think he would of much preferred a national trust/Yorkshire wildlife destination instead..or failing that a football over the field!! But we got outside to make the most of a beautiful day as a family, and that's all that truly matters.

Pregnancy progess: Little One, 23 weeks!

Little Ones kicks have become a lot stronger this week, when I'm not expecting one it really makes me jump and takes me by surprise but I'm sure I will get back used to it soon enough. When he's being really active I can watch him wriggle and kick under my skin!

I must of been waddling/panting a lot at work too as various people have asked me when my "leave starts". I honestly have no idea but I'm aiming towards some time in may as my new holidays will be available then so I'll be able to put that in front and have a bit of extra time off.

Had a few days where my bump has been really un comfy on/near my right rib, a lot earlier than with Rio but as I'm a shorty that's to be expected.

Last night the dreaded calf cramps I had with Rio made an appearance. I spent half the night propped up with pillows daring not to move, and when I did it came back with a vengeance..leaving me very sore and tired today. Banana before bed it is!

Icecream, icecream, we all scream for icecream

You know your a parent when.. you take hundreds of pictures of your child eating an ice cream!

 
 
 

Isnt it amazing how much fun and happiness an icecream can bring? Oh to be a toddler again. Yes I said toddler :( Rio is officially two years old next month. I'm really not sure how that happened!

Pregnancy + app! My New obsession!

Although this baby will be my second, I still find myself obsessively scouring websites for week by week updates of what the Little One is up to in my tummy. Although I have opted out of the emails this time I do still like to know what he looks like, and how big he is. When I saw on twitter there was an app to do this and more I jumped at the chance to try it out!

With the Health and Parenting Pregnancy + app, not only can you see what the baby looks like you can also..count kicks! A god send in later pregnancy if your ever worried about reduced movement.

I love how its tailored to you and very personal. It knows your name, tracks your weight, your health, tells you what to eat etc..heck it even has a list of names to help decide if your struggling. Talk about everything in one place!

The app can be downloaded and used for free up to 14 weeks (which I think is amazing as I know from personal experience this 'danger zone' can be utterly nerve wracking and when you do most of your 'research')..  after that you can opt to purchase the version to continue to unlock all the features.

I was sent a code to try the full product for free but as id recently switched contracts to a blackberry, not an iPhone I opted to buy this through the windows store instead and now have this on my laptop. I was very kindly offered a refund but protested as this product really is worth every penny and more..the contraction feature alone cost me more last time!

Is it strange that I also got slightly giddy when I saw there was a baby app for the first year coming soon too?? Eeek!

22 week pregnancy update

Usually when I'm busy around the house or at work I don't feel Little One move all that much but this week that has changed and I now feel his movements even when I'm rushing around..he moves a lot!

Rio has now felt kicks, both to his hands and his head haha, and doesn't seem to mind/be bothered all that much. Although the head kicks were responded to every time with a kiss, which melted my heart and made me tear up!

I've started to get a little out of breath and times too which seems absurd at this point. I have to tidy a room at a time at home and by the end of my shift at work I'm waddling around practically panting..attractive!

The acid has returned!! And with it has come leg cramps and dead legs.

Oooh don't i make pregnancy sound glamorous!!

Little One: 20/21 weeks pregnancy progress!

I thought id just combine these posts as the weeks kind of blurred into one (with me finding out the sex at 21 weeks exactly). If you saw my gender reveal post, you will know that we are expecting a little boy!!

 

I think my bump growth has slowed down now and it will just gradually change as the weeks go on. No new stretchmark's yet, even though I keep forgetting to oil up as much as I should and my tummy is getting a little dry. Movement wise I find that Little One kicks inwards and my cervix etc more than outwards but this varies from day to day.

 



I did make a trip to the doctors last week just to be on the safe side after I had a full 24 hours of cramping, to the point where it was waking me from sleep. The water infection results came back clear so i've just got to keep an eye out that it doesn't reoccur and go near my appendix as this has been a little irrated a few times over the past year or so. The doctor did the 'look who's talking' tap thing on my stomach too..i didn't think people actually did this in real life but the doctor seemed to find it amusing anyhow.

Lots of TMI things that I blogged about last time are starting to make an appearance too. Blind shaving already? God help me ladies!
