Day out at the park

Rio has now mastered walking/running on grass so it seemed like the perfect time to take him for a kick about at the park.

 

I love these little family days, i work saturdays now so a full day all together is rare and we like to make the most of it ..sometimes i wish Craig took these kind of photos of me with Rio too though ;)

 

A year ago today: Craig went back to work after his two week paternity!

I think quite alot of the blogging, vlogging, youtube watching community will know who fleurdeforce is, sadly her beautiful spaniel passed away recently and as a fellow spaniel owner watching her vlog left me in tears. I cant even imagine losing Jessie. She went missing once after being spooked by another dog for three hours and they were the worst of my life. I paced the canals, the fields, the streets until it was dark but i couldnt give in, just when everyone else had given up hope (she's scared of strangers so no one would be able to read her tag etc) a lady called my OH and said she went to take her dustbin out and there was a litle bark from behind it. We raced over and there she was! Its made me realise that since having Rio she has taken a backseat on here and she shouldnt have, shes such a huge part of my life too. So for future reference when you see her face on here every now and again..this is Jessie..my little dog - a heartbeat at my feet!

First injections & play date pictures

Turning one comes hand in hand with another set of injections. As a parent you want to slap anyone that makes your little one cry but this time i was prepared to put up with it more due to the fact he was having his MMR, hell have you seen how fast measles are spreading? As usual, he was a trooper. He even toddled back into the room afterwards.

Me:"noo you dont want to go back in there baba"

Rio: shakes off mummys hand, toddles faster

Me: "she'll make you cry again"

Rio: "choc choc?"

Thats right, he's that wise he knew it would get him another giant button!

 

My mum had my nephew for the day so we headed over for a little playdate, i loved watching them together and for the first time could actually imagine having another. Yikes, whats happening to me ;)

Twycross first birthday celebrations

Despite the weather being a little dull we all had a lovely day out at Twcross :)  I still cant believe a whole year has gone by. I always seem to take far too many pointless pictures of animals (my camera is full of them) so i thought id post a few at random and get some use out of them. I also attempted that cake i was talking about..wait look its a dinosaur..spot a theme here? ;)

Dear Rio

Today is your first birthday. Where has time gone? It seems like i met you only yesterday, 6lb6oz of perfection suddenly there on my belly. Seven minutes, thats all it took, that flew too. The past year has been the best one of my life. You've changed me so much, its like i was meant to be a mum. You've been ahead in every thing you do and while thats amazing, its also scary. I imagined you taking a few steps at one not running around the house with a ball. Your ball crazy, like your dad. You seem to have his skills too, and one day soon he will teach you everything he knows. Everyone asks "is he good?" i always tell them the truth, your a godsend, we dont know we've got you. You've got such a cheeky personality though, your little face makes me chuckle everytime. Words cannot describe how happy you have made me, and how much i love you. You won't remember your first birthday, but i hope you enjoy it anyway.

The verdict

It wasnt that bad. Okay leaving Rio was, but the actual going back to work bit was alot easier than i thought. I actually enjoyed it and loved being excited to see Rio at the end of the day..hey i may even lose those last few baby pounds speed walking from the bus stop.

He's been as good as gold for my mum even with a cold but i didnt really expect any less..he's a trooper!

Back to work blues

Tomorrow i go back to work after over a year off. I used to think going back after a weeks holiday was bad enough and that was before leaving Rio was involved, let alone leaving him poorly. He's full of cold and so clingy so the thought of leaving him breaks my heart. I have to though. If i dont go back  i never will. I  really like my job most of the time so hopefully that will make it easier. Everyone keeps saying i need me time..maybe i do? Who knows. I know Rio has to learn to be without me though.

It was lovely to have Craig home for three days over easter :) we found Rio behind the sofa chomping away on an egg. Apparently at 11 months they know how to smash and open them?!

& its a week until his birthday!  Which means its nearly time to attempt his cake and send lots of pictures your way!
