I'm really not enjoying third trimester this time around. The downsides of pregnancy seem to of jumped at me all at once and I'm getting exhausted. I know I shouldn't complain..being pregnant really is a magical thing, and there is nothing that I love more than having a bump and feeling Little One move inside of me but there comes a point when you just think, I've had enough.
I'm currently battling with acid, leg cramps, carpal tunnel, mild spd, nausea, exhaustion, headaches..the list goes on. So much so that I've booked some holidays and moved my maternity leave forward. Yesterday was my last day at work!
I know Little One isn't ready to come out yet, nor am I ready for him to, both mentally and physically with all the planning but I really am glad to hit the 30 week mark. Everything seems so much nearer now.
Rio's showing such interest in my bump and seems to really grasp that his little brother is in there and will be coming out..as an actual baby. For example if he kicks me really hard in the ribs and I gasp he'll say "is _____ coming out?" .."mummy's baby coming now?". He also keeps telling me that he'll need to hold his hand as there's "lots of cars". I know that the first time he meets him will be the most precious moment and I really cant wait for that. Our family of three, becoming a family of four!
A midnight trip to maternity assessment!
Wednesday, 23 April 2014
On Monday at work I was feeling pretty crampy, and generally just unwell. As we were short staffed I decided to soldier on to cover and was given extra little sit down/drink breaks to compensate.
Yesterday I didn't feel 'too bad' just really tired. Until I nodded off and the cramping started! At first I thought "okay these tightenings/Braxton kicks are uncomfortable" but within a matter of 15 minutes they were coming on so strong every few minutes and I was walking around panting and swaying to get through them..without passing out from going hot and clammy!
I was waiting for it to pass but when it didn't I told Craig to 'wake up a minute' and explained what was happening. I went downstairs for some calpol (haha I'm a wimp with tablets) and the whole journey there and back was one big cramp..so I didn't hesitate to grab my green notes on the way into our bedroom and give the hospital a ring. I explained/apologised I was probably being stupid but just wanted to ring and check with me only being 29+3. The lady asked me to come in for monitoring..so into the car we got.
Once there I spent half an hour on the monitors, in what looked like a janitors cupboard lol..not the quaint little bedded ward thing I had with Rio, holding the heartbeat monitor in place myself as it just didn't want to stay put. The monitor showed one contraction but other than that the pains I were getting weren't coming from my uterus, and little one was moving fine.
I was then given an internal 'pre term labour risk assessment' to highlight my chances of going into early labour...sooo glamorous as usual! But the swabs came back okay. I was so relieved, and am today albeit very tired and achy. Apparently I'm going through some kind of bug which is obviously irritating my stomach more as there's a baby in there.
The one thing our midnight trip to maternity assessment did confirm was my hate for hospital stay, and the reason I wanted homebirth this time around in the first place. Leaving me yet again undecided on that front! Everything was just so blunt and blergh..and me & Craig really didn't enjoy being back in that atmosphere at all.
I left apologising to both the nurse and Craig and feeling stupid. But when it comes to my baby, id rather be safe than sorry every time!!

Happy Easter!
Sunday, 20 April 2014
We haven't had the best weather but its been nice to have a family weekend over Easter non the less. It was a real taste of whats to come in a few weeks time when I finish work and Craigs football season ends. I video'd little snippets and made a little montage, hopefully I can dig out a camera that doesn't weigh a tonne like the DSLR and film an ACTUAL vlog sometime soon for you all!
Rio at two!
Thursday, 17 April 2014
A little last update on how Rio is getting on at 24 months, or two as I'm now forced to call it. From now on these will just be less formal snippets in with what my little family has been getting up to. Baby #2's updates will start soon enough to keep me on my toes I'm sure, though I'm hoping these can follow that same 'informal' fun format too!
His speech:
Ignore his appearance, he's a bit of a scruff pot in the mornings.
He's mastered all his colours this month, even the difference between brown/black and pink/red.
And his catching has got pretty amazing for a little one. His Daddy has also learnt him to drop kick the ball. And do drills such as 'Right kick, left kick' etc...such soccer parents!! His favourite foods are currently sausage, steak, rice, ready break, strawberries, green beans & bananas.
Saurus Scenario's!
Rio: Mummy want a Cuppa Coffee?
Me: No thankyou
Rio: Cuppa Tea?
Me: Nope
Rio: Orh..urm..*walks away*
Rio: Mummy whatcha doing?
Me: I'm just in the kitchen
Rio: You making my tea like?
Me: Do you love mummy?
Rio: Nope
Me: Aww :(
Rio: Love you on Thursday!
Me: And how old are you going to be on Thursday?
Rio: Forty, no...Four!!
Me: And what are you going to get.?..
Rio: Presents.. A BOUNCY CASTLE!
Me: *Thinks how does he know about bouncy castles? I haven't ordered one!* Urm..what presents do you want?
Rio: A fish! ...and a bucket.
Meet Water, geniously named by my now 2 year old..it was that or Fingers ;)..he's a funny one!
Rio: Lay down mummy, like this, and have your baby
Me: :O
Other updates: Rio's birth story & learning to walk

Turning two!
Saturday, 12 April 2014
On Thursday Rio turned two. We spent the morning visiting both sets of Grandparents and then headed out for the day to Brodsworth hall. Rio has always been grown up and forward for his age but I feel like over the last few days he's changed even more, he really has been a pleasure to watch.
The weather held out and was glorious on Friday too, so we took advantage of Craigs times off and ventured to Clumber Park for a picnic and kick about!

We pondered over the idea of a party for a while, but Rio really is the outdoorsy exploring type so it seemed silly to not have a day that would really make him happy. I think the parties will start once he's in school and he can really remember them.
He was pretty spoilt in the present department but its all things that he will get good use out of and love! He also got his first scooter, which he loves scooting about on. And as he'd actually asked for a fish..he got one of them from my dad too! He loves feeding it every morning and watching it swim around.

Whilst at Clumber Park we added a National Trust membership to our collection so hopefully our spring/summer will be full of new family adventures!

Baby Haul
Saturday, 5 April 2014
Today was a gloomy one in Yorkshire so we opted for a spot of lunch and shopping at Kiddicare. Whilst out that way we also took the opportunity to have a look for a few baby outfits at the Mothercare Outlet..and im so glad that we did! Not only was everything half price, clothing was also buy one half price get another 75% off!
This for example was already on sale from £10 to £5, to £4.. so we ended up getting for..£2 in conjunction with another item!
We bought 6 packs of socks, so the offer did still apply, 3 for this Little One and 3 for Rio.
Little One's drawers are already overflowing, what with my Next obsession, but when we see bargains like this we cant just leave them there!!
Have you found any good deals lately?
